…continued from Wanderlust Colorado 2012 Highlights – Part One
Writing this feels like a close in the Wanderlust chapter and I’m not sure I’m ready for that quite yet. Jamming with Ziggy Marley, planning a sweet new book club with Lululemon, deep conversations and big laughs with ORIGIN Magazine…I could go on and on about all the amazingness at Wanderlust Colorado. Alas, these last five highlights should whet your appetite just right. And hey…Wanderlust California is coming up, and the drive from Denver to Lake Tahoe is only 17 hours…
wan.der.lust: [n] a strong or irresistible desire to travel and explore the world
travel. practice yoga. eat well. be green. appreciate art.
Real magic happens at this four-day yoga and music extravaganza. Magic that is hard to vocalize even to the person next to you, because we’re each having our own unique mind-blowing experience. But when you look into each other eyes or feel their embrace, you know you’re on the same page.
I attended Wanderlust Festival in Copper Mountain, CO with my boyfriend, my amazing partner who is new to yoga and even newer to yoga festivals. Between om-ing together in the CorePower dome at midnight, taking a morning “gong bath”, playing on the slacklines and snapping pics in a Toyota Camry Hybrid “photo booth”, the two of us let our inner children run wild playing for four days straight. Nourishing ourselves with food and drink can really be one of life’s greatest pleasures. Far too often, we miss out on the true pleasure and sensuality of this act because we’re preoccupied with our busy lives, eating fast, drinking unconsciously and not paying attention what’s going into our mouths. On the other end of the spectrum, some of us spend so much time thinking about every detail of what we’re eating that it becomes more of a burden than a pleasure. Not so graceful, right?
Many of our YogaDates events involve food and drinks, and we want to make sure you enjoy it to the fullest. If we take a moment to really be mindful and bring more joy and pleasure to the life-giving act of consuming food and beverages, it can bring a whole new level of deep, exciting sensory awareness to our lives.
Here are a few ways to transform and elevate your experience of eating and drinking: (more…)
Wanderlust Festival – the four-day yoga extravaganza held in Vermont, Colorado, Lake Tahoe and Whistler, Canada – can truly be a life-changing experience, especially with a little bit of planning.
Flash-forward to Copper Mountain, CO July 5th: It’s 8am, you’re tired, excited and slightly nervous as you enter the huge dome. As you lay down your mat and take a seat, you look around and realize that you are surrounded by 500 other beautiful people. Take a deep, meditative breath: this is going to be a great weekend. Chris Courtney thinks it’s time the “yoga dudes” take action and define themselves – so here is one yoga dude’s manifesto:
Yes, I love women with nose piercings and tattoos who are addicted to kombucha and coconut water. But if I’m your teacher, we’re staying in the friend zone.
Of course I Aum loudly and my ujjayi breath sounds like a freight train, these are some big lungs I’m carrying around! You want me to turn the volume down then tell me to feel expansive? Now I’m confused. (more…)
So we’ve all heard about oysters being an aphrodisiac, but how often do you reach for the oysters in the fridge when you’re ready to spice things up a bit?
We did a little research and it turns out that many of our everyday foods are packed with serious chemicals that give our sex lives an immediate boost. Trust us, the produce section will never look the same again. (more…)
Like most of you, I’ve tried looking for love online. Ladies and gents, let’s admit it: online dating can be an exhausting experience. First we spend the time answering all those profile questions, quizzes, etc. that are supposed to help you find a better match. These alone can leave you online for hours. Then the communication back and forth: the witty email banter exchanges, the text messages, the phone calls. Then finally, just maybe, the date. All in all you could spend over ten hours communicating with one person who after just five minutes of talking in person, you know isn’t right for you. What a waste! (more…)
On a brisk evening in late April, twenty young men and women gathered at the base of Table Rock in Golden Colorado to share in a very unique experience. The adventurous souls who attended YogaDates’ first outdoor event participated in a very pleasant and enjoyable mix of moderate hiking and outdoor Yoga on top of the iconic rock which concluded right as the sun was setting. As if the experience of hiking + yoga + sunset wasn’t enough to make for an excellent opportunity for the bachelors and bachelorettes to get to know each other, the YogaDaters were rewarded with a family style Nepalese dinner under the stars where they were free to eat, drink and be merry.
